Discussion at the Newberry: Hamilton and the Classroom

“Who Lives, Who Dies, Who Tells Your Story”: Hamilton and the Classroom

Tuesday, February 21
6:00-7:30 PM
The Newberry Library
(60 W Walton St., Chicago, IL)

How can Hamilton, the blockbuster musical, illuminate serious study of the history, politics, social structures, and culture of both Colonial American times and today?

Four college professors, Geraldo Cadava, Caitlin Fitz, Joanna Grisinger and JMC Fellow Laura Beth Nielsen have designed courses this spring to explore that question. In this discussion-style program, lean how they constructed the courses, what the students are getting out of them, the complexity of the themes that musical elicits, and their relevance to us now.

This event is free and open to the pubic, no registration required.
