Erik Dempsey Writes Houston Chronicle Constitution Day Piece

For the Houston Chronicle, Erik Dempsey suggests that “Frederick Douglass’ take on America’s flawed foundations affords insight into our nation’s real virtues.”

Dr. Dempsey is a lecturer at the University of Texas at Austin, and assistant director of UT’s Thomas Jefferson Center for the Study of Core Texts and Ideas.  He is also a JMC Fellow.

The iPhone 6 will be released Friday and the country is abuzz with anticipation.

Today marks an arguably even more consequential release date: Sept. 17, 1787, was the day the delegates to the Philadelphia Convention signed the Constitution that would be submitted to the American people for their approval.
