Carthage College invites applications for a three-year teaching fellowship, starting August 2011, in the Western Heritage Program within the Division of Interdisciplinary Studies. With a terminal degree in any academic discipline by the time of appointment, the ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate excellence in analyzing primary texts of the Western tradition and potential for excellence in teaching such texts to first-year college students.

The successful candidate will teach two sections of Western Heritage per term, participate in and help lead faculty development activities, and deliver one public lecture per year. Since Western Heritage courses are at the core of the general education curriculum, ability to engage faculty across the curriculum is desirable. The Department of Political Science at Baylor University is seeking applicants for one or more positions in comparative politics to teach introductory courses at both undergraduate and graduate levels, with fields of specialization in one or more of the following: Western Europe, Eastern Europe, Russia, the Middle East, Asia, and Africa. Undergraduate teaching duties include introductory courses in World Political Systems. A research agenda that intersects with the strengths of the department in international relations and security studies, constitutional studies, and/or political theory would be welcome, demonstrating broad theoretical training in the discipline, and contributing to the graduate program’s focus on constitutionalism, statecraft, and citizenship.

Villanova University – Lawrence C. Gallen Post-doctoral Teaching Fellowship

The Villanova Center for Liberal Education seeks scholars in the Humanities to apply for the Lawrence C. Gallen, OSA, Post-doctoral Teaching Fellowship, starting in the Fall Semester 2010. Each Gallen Teaching Fellowship is a continuing, renewable teaching appointment in the Villanova Center for Liberal Education (VCLE) subject to yearly review.

Each Fellow is responsible for teaching three sections per semester of the Augustine and Culture Seminar. Duties and Responsibilities: Each Fellow helps develop and oversee various scholarly activities sponsored by the program, including conferences, faculty workshops, a book series, its journal, Expositions, and other projects. In addition, each Fellow is required to contribute to Villanova’s residential learning communities.
