Position overview

The Staff Accountant will be responsible for performing day to day accounting operations and supporting the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) with special projects.

Work Location: The Jack Miller Center office in Bala Cynwyd, PA, a suburb of Philadelphia. Remote work will be considered for highly-qualified candidates.

Salary: $55,000 – $75,000, negotiable with exceptional skills and qualifications.

Reports to: Chief Financial Officer

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Daily, weekly and monthly processing of accounts payable and accounts receivable
  2. Monthly close accounting
  3. Balance sheet reconciliations 
  4. Assist with creation of a grant tracking and monitoring system
  5. Assist with preparation for external audits and annual Form 990
  6. Business requirements gathering for financial system upgrades
  7. Assist CFO with updates of accounting policies and procedures
  8. Assist CFO with benefits administration and various HR projects
  9. Special projects as needed

Skills and Requirements

  1. Commitment to the mission of the Jack Miller Center
  2. Bachelor of Science or Arts degree in Accounting preferred (Finance degree considered with demonstrated accounting skills and experience).
  3. 1-3 years of public accounting and/or industry experience
  4. Outstanding communication skills and a positive attitude
  5. Knowledge of QuickBooks Online or QuickBooks Desktop required
  6. Intermediate-level Excel Skills required
  7. Not for profit experience preferred
