Faith and Freedom: A Constitution Day Celebration of America’s Semiquincentennial
The Honors College of Azusa Pacific University will host an academic colloquium featuring Susan McWilliams Brandt (Claremont McKenna College) and David Weeks (Azusa Pacific University) and a celebratory dinner with a keynote from Susan McWilliams Brandt on September 17 to celebrate Constitution Day.
Azusa Pacific University will celebrate and reflect on the historic milestone of America’s 250th anniversary and explore the theme of “Faith and Freedom.” Through an academic colloquium and celebratory dinner, participants will learn more about the relationship between the spirit of religion and the spirit of liberty in America.
The academic colloquium will feature Susan McWilliams Barndt, William F. Podlich Distinguished Fellow in Government at Claremont McKenna College, and David Weeks, Fletcher Jones Endowed Chair in Citizenship and Civic Virtue in the Azusa Pacific University Honors College, presenting their recent work on faith and freedom.
Additionally, the celebratory dinner will include patriotic music and a keynote address by Susan McWilliams Barndt about the most cited piece of literature in the American founding, the biblical story of the Exodus.
