Florida Social Studies Summit: America at 250 & the Meaning of Liberty
The Jack Miller Center, Sphere Education Initiatives, and the Lou Frey Institute are partnering to offer a two-day summit for Florida social studies educators, supervisors, and administrators.
The theme for this year’s summit is “America at 250 and the Meaning of Liberty: The Evolution of Freedom & Equality in the World.” The summit will explore how the definitions of freedom and equality have expanded overtime, influenced by movements, conflicts, and voices, both nationally and globally. Speakers include professors, such as JMC scholars Alberto Coll and Jeremy Bailey, and teaching specialists who will examine how this dynamic history can help students better understand liberty as both a foundational principle and a continuous, shared responsibility.
The program will take place at the University of Central Florida in Orlando. Participants will receive a $200 stipend for participation. The deadline to apply is Friday, August 28.
