“Is There No Virtue Among Us?” & “Federalists or Anti-Federalists?”
Jack Miller Fellow Paul DeHart (Texas State University) and James Hankins (University of Florida) will deliver two JMC-sponsored Constitution Day conversations as a part of University of West Florida celebrations: “Is There No Virtue Among Us?: Interest, Ambition, and the Common Good in the Framers’ Constitutional Design” and “Federalists or Anti-Federalists: The Verdict After 250 Years.”
The University of West Florida will commemorate Constitution Day 2026 with a series of lectures and discussions examining the ideas and debates that shaped the nation’s founding.
The day begins at 12:00 pm with political scientist Dr. Paul R. DeHart, professor of political science at Texas State University, presenting “Is There No Virtue Among Us?: Interest, Ambition, and the Common Good in the Framers’ Constitutional Design,” in the University Commons Conference Ballroom. DeHart will explore the motivations that shaped the creation of the Constitution.
Guests are invited to continue the conversation with Dr. DeHart at 3:00 pm when he joins historian Dr. James Hankins (University of Florida) for “Federalists or Anti-Federalists: The Verdict After 250 Years,” a public forum in the University Commons Conference Ballroom.
