Summer Civics Seminar for Elementary Teachers at Jacksonville State

The Center for Leadership and American Principles at Jacksonville State University is hosting a week-long seminar for K-5 teachers.

Alabama

This residential seminar, designed for practicing K-5 teachers, seeks to provide educators with content knowledge and classroom strategies surrounding teaching key ideas, concepts, and principles in American civics. Sessions will include:

– Interactive primary source discussions led by leading scholars in American political thought

– Lectures from renowned keynote speakers

– Workshops led by iCivics, the National Constitution Center, Thinking Nation, and the Center for American Civics

– An experiential field trip to selected sites on the Civil Rights Trail

Lodging and meals will be provided throughout the seminar, and mileage reimbursement will be available. Participants will also receive over 50 hours of Professional Learning Credits and a $500 stipend for completion of the program.
