A National University in the US?

Should there be a national university in the United States?  Thomas Jefferson and some of his friends thought so. George Thomas will discuss the matter on Thursday, Feb. 26 at UCLA.

The Founders and the Idea of a National University

George Thomas, Claremont McKenna College

The lecture is free and open to all.  No reservation is required.  Light refreshments will be available. The Center for Liberal Arts and Institutions (CLAFI) is a Jack Miller Center partner program at UCLA.

The question of a national university is the theme of Thomas’s new book, The Founders and the Idea of a National University:  Constituting the American Mind.  He provided JMC a short piece on the motivation behind the book.  Read it here.
