Lewis Collens is President and Professor of Law Emeritus at the Illinois Institute of Technology, where he previously served as Dean of Chicago-Kent College of Law. An inaugural member of the  Law and Humanities Fellow program at Harvard Law School, he has long been active in advancing education and civic institutions, currently chairing the Executive Committee of Advance Illinois and serving on the boards of the Newberry Library, public television station WTTW, and Rush University. A Laureate of the Lincoln Academy and recipient of the Order of Lincoln—Illinois’s highest civilian honor for professional achievement and public service—he has also served on the corporate boards of Dean Foods, AMSTED Industries, and Colson Caster, and currently participates in the University of California Riverside’s Osher Lifelong Learning Institute.
