Summer Civics Institute at Coastal Carolina
The Cincinnatus Center at Coastal Carolina University is hosting its annual Summer Civics Institute in Conway, SC for regional social studies teachers.
The primary aim of this institute is to offer content-based professional development, equipping teachers to lead students in the study of primary documents from American political thought. The focus of this year’s program will be the debates surrounding slavery, abolition, Reconstruction, and the American political tradition. Topics will include abolitionist political thought, federalism, executive power, political economy, and civil rights.
Sessions will be led by Coastal Carolina University faculty members.
Participants will receive a $200 stipend, mileage compensation, and 20 contact hours towards professional development credit upon completion of the institute.
