Summer Civics Institute at Coastal Carolina: Bill of Rights Bootcamp

The Cincinnatus Center at Coastal Carolina University is hosting its annual Summer Civics Institute in Conway, SC for regional social studies teachers.

The primary aim of this institute is to offer content-based professional development, equipping teachers to lead students in the study of primary documents from American political thought. The focus of this year’s program will be the freedoms, principles, and influence of the Bill of Rights. Topics will include free speech, freedom of religion, due process, freedom of the press, and federalism.

Sessions will be led by Coastal Carolina faculty members Kimberly Hurd Hale and Drew Kurlowski.

Participants will receive a $200 stipend, mileage compensation, and 20 contact hours towards professional development credit upon completion of the institute. The deadline to apply is May 1.
