Summer Symposium for Teachers at UT-Austin

The School of Civic Leadership at the University of Texas at Austin is hosting a three-day seminar for middle and high school social studies teachers, in partnership with the Jack Miller Center.

The seminar will focus on the key ideas, debates, and principles from the American civic tradition through the close study of primary sources. Topics will include natural rights, the Constitution, and slavery, and participants will read and discuss primary sources such as the Federalist Papers, Abraham Lincoln’s speeches, and Martin Luther King, Jr.’s “Letter from the Birmingham Jail.”

Sessions will be led by faculty including Drs. Matthew Reising and Benjamin Kleinerman.

The seminar is free to attend and participants will receive a $300 stipend for completing the program.
