The School of Civic Leadership at the University of Texas at Austin is partnering with the JMC on a one-day symposium for middle and high school teachers on President Dwight D. Eisenhower.

Texas

Through the study of two of his speeches, participants will examine and reflect on Eisenhower’s view of the defining issue of his presidency – the Cold War as a conflict of ideas in the context of rapid technological changes.

Discussions will be led by UT-Austin professor John Kitch. The symposium will conclude with a classroom application session on strategies for utilizing the primary source material in teachers’ own classrooms led by Aubrey Brawner, the Assistant Director of Recruiting and Civic Education at the School of Civic Leadership.

Participants will receive a $200 stipend for completion of the program.
