Craig Bruce Smith (National Defense University) will give a Constitution Day lecture titled “The Peaceful Transition of Power: George Washington and the Unwritten Constitution” at the University of West Georgia on September 17.

After a revolution fought against tyranny, many Americans feared the rise of another powerful ruler. Dr. Craig Smith will discuss how George Washington’s decision to step away from the presidency set a historic precedent for the peaceful transfer of power and became one of the most heroic acts of American leadership. Students, faculty, and staff are invited to attend!
