Ball State Conference on Civic Studies and Democracy

The Jack Miller Center will be presenting at Ball State University’s Conference on Civic Studies and Democracy, hosted by the Center for Economic and Civic Learning.

JMC Teacher Programs Manager Emilee McHorney will present a session, “Cultivating Civic Virtue in the Classroom,” on Friday, September 26:

What does it mean to prepare students not only to know about democracy, but to live as virtuous democratic citizens? This session equips teachers with strategies to intentionally weave together civic education and character formation. Participants will explore primary sources and classroom practices that highlight essential civic virtues such as responsibility, courage, and civility.
