Constitution Day Debate: Is the Constitution Colorblind? A Conversation About Race, Law, and the Meaning of Equality

Christopher Newport University’s Center for American Studies presents a Constitution Day debate September 24, at 4:30 p.m. in TFAC Lecture Hall. The two speakers, Joshua Dunn and Derek W. Black, discuss the question “Is the Constitution colorblind?” in a conversation about race, law, and the meaning of equality.

Joshua Dunn is a professor and executive director of the Institute of American Civics at the University of Tennessee. He writes on constitutional law, education policy, and freedom of speech. He is the author of Complex Justice and Passing on the Right.

Derek W. Black is a Professor of Law and Ernest F. Hollings Chair in Constitutional Law at the University of South Carolina. He directs the Constitutional Law Center and writes on civil rights and educational equality. he is the author of Schoolhouse Burning and Dangerous Learning.
