Lee University will host its 11th annual Intercollegiate Symposium featuring speaker Matthew Dinan (St. Thomas University) October 16-17. This year’s theme is “Self-Evident? Seeking Understanding through Civil Discourse.”
Lee University Center for Responsible Citizenship is pleased to provide a space for students, faculty, and members of the community to gather and discuss the questions that connect us. This year’s symposium will be held October 16-17th.
This year’s theme is “Self-Evident? Seeking Understanding through Civil Discourse.” Readings will draw on politics, philosophy, history, and literature to explore the challenges of serious discussion on contentious issues. Participants will consider how charitable dialogue can find common ground that respects each interlocutor and appreciates the weight of what’s at stake. Participants will be joined by Dr. Matthew Dinan from St. Thomas University to provide a keynote lecture on Civic Friendship.
