Professional Development at Brookfield Academy: The Declaration’s Global Impact

Brookfield Academy is partnering with the Jack Miller Center to host a one-day professional development program for middle and high school social studies teachers on the influence of the Declaration of Independence around the world.

Participants in the program will hear from leading scholars and dive into primary sources on the Declaration’s impact around the world, enhancing their content knowledge while reviewing strategies for incorporating primary texts into their teaching.

Faculty speakers will include University of Chicago Professor James Vaughn and Lake Forest College Professor Evan Oxman. In addition, JMC Teacher Programs Manager Emilee McHorney will provide a classroom application session.

Teachers will receive a $150 stipend for completion of the program.
