Stop Calling America an Experiment

The University of Maine will host a Constitution Day lecture featuring Gregory M. Collins. His talk, “Stop Calling America An Experiment,” challenges a familiar way of describing the American founding. Rather than an “experiment,” Collins argues that the American political tradition might be better understood as an inheritance—one grounded in longstanding political, moral, and constitutional traditions.
