Teacher Symposium at Carthage College: The United States at 250
Carthage College, in partnership with the Jack Miller Center, is hosting a one-day symposium in Kenosha, WI for social studies teachers.
In this symposium, current and former faculty from Carthage College will lead teachers through an interdisciplinary study of the ideas, principles, and documents at the heart of the American Founding and tradition. This interdisciplinary approach aims to engage social studies school teachers by both broadening and deepening their understanding of the American Founding through the different perspectives of the Classics, History, and Political Science.
Faculty leaders will include Drs. Eric Pullin, Paul Ulrich, and Benjamin DeSmidt. JMC Teacher Programs Manager Emilee McHorney will also facilitate an application session, addressing strategies for bringing the texts and ideas discussed into teachers’ own classrooms.
Lunch will be provided, and participants will be invited to a group dinner following the symposium. Teachers will receive a $150 stipend for completion of the institute.
