The Principles of 1776
David Armitage (Harvard University) will deliver a JMC-sponsored public lecture on “The Declaration of Independence’s Influence around the World” at the University of Georgia on October 9.
To commemorate the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, the University of Georgia will host a special event on October 9. The event, “The Principles of 1776,” will offer students and community members a unique opportunity to engage deeply with the philosophical and political traditions of the Declaration of Independence by interacting with an expert on the Declaration of Independence and participating in debates. One debate will be between two college teams, another will be between two local high schools.
A public lecture with David Armitage (Harvard University) will take place at 2:00 pm, with debates following from 3:00-4:45 pm.
The event is open to the public and will take place in the UGA Chapel.
