UT-Austin Professional Development Summer Seminars
The School of Civic Leadership at the University of Texas at Austin is running a series of seminars for teachers throughout Texas this summer.
Three-day seminars will be offered throughout the state, each examining the philosophical ideas that informed the creation and development of America’s political system and some of the contemporary challenges to the maintenance of American democracy. Topics will include the Declaration of Independence, free speech in a democracy, slavery and the American founding, and major social and political movements in American history.
Sessions will consist of small-group discussions focused on primary sources and will be led by faculty from UT-Austin’s School of Civic Leadership and from other Texas universities.
Breakfast and lunch will be provided at each program, and teachers will receive a $1,000 stipend for participation in one of the seminars.

Austin (June 1 – 3 & June 4 – 6)
