A Two-Day Commemoration of the Declaration of Independence
Samford University will host a two-day event commemorating the Declaration of Independence on February 23-24, featuring a keynote lecture from Justin Dyer and an academic roundtable discussion with Carli Conklin, Jason Stevens, and Cara Rogers Stevens.
As the nation approaches the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, Howard College of Arts and Sciences’ Department of History and Core Texts invite the campus community to reflect on the ideas that shaped America–and continue to shape civic life today.
This two-day event will feature a keynote lecture on February 23 at 7:00pm entitled “Endowed by Their Creator” by Justin Dyer, Jack Miller Center Academic Council Member and Dean of the School of Civic Leadership at the University of Texas at Austin. The second day, February 24, will include an academic roundtable discussion on “Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness” at 3:00pm, featuring Jack Miller Fellow Carli Conklin, Jason Stevens, and JMC Scholar Cara Rogers Stevens. These events are open to students, faculty, staff, and the public.
