Summer Civics Institute at Villanova University
The Matthew J. Ryan Center at Villanova University is hosting a two-day civics seminar for local social studies teachers, with the support of the Jack Miller Center.
This program will feature scholar-facilitated discussions focused on key ideas, thinkers, and texts from the Enlightenment, American Founding, and Civil War era. Topics will include the Declaration of Independence and natural rights, the Federalist Papers, and the Constitution and slavery. Primary source sessions will be led by Villanova faculty. In addition, a classroom application session led by a local master teacher will help participants apply the content discussed into their classrooms.
Teachers will receive a $300 stipend for completion of the institute.
