Summer Institute for Teachers at Baylor: To the Revolution and Beyond
The Zavala Program for Constitutional Studies at Baylor University, with the support of the Jack Miller Center, is hosting an institute in Waco for middle and high school social studies teachers.
In celebration of the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, this institute will examine the ideas that shaped the American founding, directly from primary sources. Through interactive conversations led by Baylor University faculty, participants will explore ideas and texts from the diverse traditions that informed colonial political thought through the immediate aftermath of independence and the challenges of political construction in America. Topics will include the Constitutional Convention, the Declaration of Independence, the Articles of Confederation, the Federalist and Anti-Federalist debates, and more.
This institute is offered entirely free of charge to teachers. Participants who complete the institute will be awarded a certificate of completion and a stipend of $300. The deadline to apply is June 1.
